Tai Lam Chung Reservoir (Thousand Islands Lake)
Tai Lam Chung Reservoir, completed in 1957, is nestled within Tai Lam Country Park. Its nickname, “Thousand Islands Lake,” comes from the dozens of tree-covered knolls that became islands when the valley was flooded.
The best views are from the Reservoir Islands Viewpoint along Section 10 of the MacLehose Trail. The hike is relatively easy, with gentle inclines and shaded paths. In autumn, the surrounding eucalyptus trees turn golden, adding a splash of color to the already stunning landscape.
