Por Lo Shan, Hong Kong
Por Lo Shan, nicknamed Pineapple Mountain, is famed for its golden, cracked rock surfaces that resemble the crust of a pineapple bun. Nestled in the Leung Tin Au Gorge, this area features Hong Kong’s only natural canyon-like formation—earning it the nickname “Hong Kong Grand Canyon.”
The hike is about 6.5 km round-trip, starting from San Wai Light Rail stop. The trail includes both paved and dirt paths, with panoramic views of Castle Peak and even glimpses of Shenzhen. The canyon’s layered textures glow in warm hues under sunlight, making it a favorite for photographers and geology buffs.
While not an officially designated attraction, its popularity has surged online. Note that parts of the area fall within the Tsing Shan Firing Range, used for military drills. It’s safest to visit on weekends or public holidays and always check government press releases for firing schedules.
