Tsz Shan Monastery

Tsz Shan Monastery

Tsz Shan Monastery is a tranquil Buddhist complex nestled in Tung Tsz, Tai Po. Surrounded by mountains and facing a reservoir, it offers a peaceful retreat from urban life. Its most iconic feature is the 76-meter-tall white Guan Yin statue—one of the tallest outdoor bronze statues of its kind in the world.

Spanning 500,000 square feet, the monastery’s architecture draws from Tang, Song, Liao, and Jin dynasties, creating a solemn yet graceful atmosphere. Key structures include the Main Buddha Hall, Scripture Library, and Guan Yin Hall, all aligned along a central axis. The on-site Buddhist Art Museum showcases sacred relics and cultural artifacts, deepening the spiritual and artistic experience.

Visits require advance online registration to preserve the monastery’s serenity. With its blend of nature, architecture, and introspection, Tsz Shan Monastery is a place to reconnect—with tradition, with stillness, and with oneself.
