Tai Kwun

Tai Kwun

Situated on Hollywood Road in Central, Tai Kwun is the restored site of the former Central Police Station compound, comprising the Magistracy and Victoria Prison—three key colonial-era institutions with over 180 years of history. Following an extensive revitalization project, the compound has been transformed into a vibrant hub where arts, culture, and heritage converge.

The site preserves 16 declared monuments alongside two contemporary structures—JC Contemporary and JC Cube—hosting a wide range of exhibitions, performances, and community events. The permanent heritage displays highlight the building’s judicial and correctional past, while rotating art shows and guided tours provide fresh perspectives on local and global creativity.

With thoughtful architectural integration and respectful conservation, Tai Kwun is a space that invites both quiet reflection and cultural discovery. Whether you’re here to attend a show, visit an exhibition, or enjoy a coffee in the historic courtyard, this is a place where stories of the past meet the pulse of the present.
