Golden Bauhinia Square
Located on Expo Drive in Wan Chai, Golden Bauhinia Square sits beside the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. It was established to commemorate the 1997 Handover of Hong Kong to China. At its heart stands the six-meter-tall “Forever Blooming Bauhinia” sculpture, a gift from the Central Government symbolizing unity and prosperity.
A daily flag-raising ceremony takes place at 8:00 AM, with enhanced performances on National Day and Handover Anniversary. The nearby Reunification Monument features inscriptions by President Jiang Zemin, adding historical depth to the site.
The square is a popular photo spot and a place to reflect on Hong Kong’s pivotal moment in history. Whether under sunlight or evening lights, the golden sculpture gleams as a striking landmark along the harbourfront.
