Former Kowloon-Canton Railway Clock Tower

Former Kowloon-Canton Railway Clock Tower

Located on Salisbury Road in Tsim Sha Tsui, the Former Kowloon-Canton Railway Clock Tower was built in 1915 as part of the original Kowloon railway terminus. Standing 44 meters tall and topped with a 7-meter lightning rod, the tower is constructed in Edwardian Classical Revival style with red brick and granite.

It once marked the southern end of the Kowloon-Canton Railway, a vital link between Hong Kong and mainland China. After the terminus relocated to Hung Hom in 1975, the station was demolished, but the Clock Tower was preserved as a historical monument in 1990.

Today, it stands near the Star Ferry Pier and Cultural Centre, offering panoramic views of Victoria Harbour. Though the interior is currently closed, the tower remains a beloved landmark and a powerful reminder of Hong Kong’s railway heritage.
