Central Market
Located at the intersection of Queen’s Road Central and Des Voeux Road Central, Central Market was built in 1939 and is one of Hong Kong’s few remaining Bauhaus-style market buildings. After ceasing operations in 2003, it was handed over to the Urban Renewal Authority and fully reopened in 2022 as a dynamic space for retail, dining, exhibitions, and community events.
The revitalized market retains original features like red brick walls, a hanging clock, and over 500 red lamps—blending nostalgia with modern flair. Inside, you’ll find local brands, artisanal eateries, pop-up markets, and cultural showcases. The space regularly hosts creative programs, making it a lively intersection of commerce and culture.
With its “Playground for All” concept, Central Market invites everyone to explore, connect, and enjoy a refreshing slice of urban life in the heart of Central.
