Cape D’Aguilar Lighthouse
Cape D’Aguilar Lighthouse, also known as Hok Tsui Lighthouse, is Hong Kong’s first lighthouse, built in 1875 on the southeastern tip of Hong Kong Island. Standing 9.7 meters tall, the white cylindrical stone tower features Romanesque arches and a spiral staircase, showcasing both historical and architectural significance.
Originally constructed to guide ships safely into Victoria Harbour, the lighthouse was decommissioned in 1896 and later reactivated in 1975 with automation. It is now a declared monument and one of the five surviving pre-war lighthouses in Hong Kong.
The hiking trail leading to the lighthouse offers scenic views of sea caves, a whale skeleton display, and dramatic coastal landscapes—making it a perfect blend of history and nature.
